Yelagiri is one of my go-to places for a quick weekend getaway and while I have travelled umpteen times over the last few years to this small hilltop, this trip was one among the first ones there. I tried this hotel called Zeenath Taj Gardens which is just a few minutes away from the town’s Nature Park.
Zeenath Taj Gardens is one of those hotels that look more beautiful on the outside than inside. With a long private path that takes you to this stay that also doubles as a parking lot, this place is located amidst total greenery that transcends into the compound aesthetically. The buildings inside this place are well-spaced and everything in between them is filled with greenery. There is even a forest right behind the hotel that can be accessed through a small gate.
Inside though, it’s a different story. The bed is large and comfortable but the rest of the room has taken a beating over the years. As you can see, the bedsheet that was provided had a massive hole in it and the curtains too barely covered the window. The bathroom was decent and a partition gives ample space for the shower. The interiors might not be the best in class but as someone who has seen almost most of the big hotels in Yelagiri, I can say that the rooms here are pretty good enough.
The restaurant is just a little stroll away from the rooms and as every place in this hill, they serve some brilliant dishes that taste just like homemade food. The staff here are not those who have in-depth knowledge of F&B but are friendly people who would go out of their way to serve you. After taxes, a stay for two days cost me Rs 5,600 and food, which I had a couple of times over the weekend cost me another Rs 1,288. On the whole, Zeenath Taj Gardens is a decent stay if you are someone who would barely be in the room and resort to sightseeing.
